Stored Payment Information

Stored payment information is used in Orders, in particular installment billing and payment orders (including pledges and recurring gifts) with auto-pay.

For more on stored payment information, see Individual Profile Child Forms: Payments.

When you add a stored payment information record, netFORUM will attempt to verify the account by doing a $1 preauthorization with the electronic payment gateway, followed immediately by a void of the preauthorization. netFORUM does this to help ensure that the supplied credit card or ACH is an active account. Be aware that the holder of the credit card or ACH might see this activity for a short time, depending on how the financial institution displays this information.

For a tokenized gateway, netFORUM logs the generated token and related information with the stored payment data.

FAQ

Q. How long is a credit card saved for?

A. netFORUM stores these indefinitely, and the processors store the cards according to their own practices. If a card expires, netFORUM discovers the expiration the next time the card is used (if ever).

Q. Do the credit cards have to be processed to be listed (if it failed would it be listed)?

A. Yes and no. If you add a new payment and enter CC information, netFORUM does not store this unless the payment succeeds. You can, alternatively, add a stored payment information directly from a customer record, without applying a payment. In this case, the gateway tokenizes the CC and ensures the account is valid, but will not authorize any amount since there is no payment.

Q. Is there a way to see the expiration dates?

A. You can see the expiration dates from the child form mentioned above. In versions 2015.1 and later, there is a dedicated profile page for these in the accounting module.

Q. Can I pay an open invoice with a saved token?

A. Yes, in iWeb and xWeb, but not in eWeb.

Q. What is Vantiv's eCheckVerification feature?

A. See more about what this feature does and how to enable it in the Adding the Vantiv Merchant Account Settings topic. See also Vantiv's website: http://www.vantiv.com
